Dangerous, inaccurate and inconvenient
Pros: 1) Dangerous: our pick-up trucks brakes failed on our drive. There are many steep hills on the island of Tortola and the brakes were far past needed regular servicing even on level ground. This rental put my wife and I's safety in jeopardy. The brakes failed on a downhill on the way to our restaurant. If I did not use the emergency brake we would have driven into a house or off a cliff. 2) Inaccurate: booked the truck for Beef Island airport on Kayak. There was no pick up truck at beef island airport. We had to be taxied by Avis to Road Town (30+ minutes extra pick up time). Truck was also in BAD shape when we received it (had previously been rear ended without repair, scratches and dents on all sections, see above for faulty brakes, transmission also needs servicing, dirty and worn interior). 3) Inaccurate: pick up added 30-60+ minutes to our travel time due to inaccurate booking. Drop off also took much longer even though we were the only guests in line. We missed our ferry back to our resort not due to bad planning on our part but because Avis representatives could not decide who was going to close us out. Also keep in mind Avis adds a $1,000 hold on your CC during the rental. Given the level of service and infrastructure on the island that hold made me uncomfortable to say the least.

Pros: Good price compared to other car rental options on the island
Cons: There was nobody around when we dropped off the car and there were no instructions on what to do. The car had a very musty smell.
