Pros: Professional staff, amazing location, in house dinner great value and delicious and varied choices, informative safari drive to Addo Park. Could rave about this place for ever.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location and staff with an excellent game drive
Cons: We thought the food a little heavy for our taste. However the service was excellent. We We’re a little disappointed with our cabin as the shower was a bit dodgy. The swimming pool filter not working and a view of the bins from the loungers
10,0 Excellent
Pros: On top of the World
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Camp Figtree was a great experience and the tent accommodation was very well designed. The service in the main house was very good and we enjoyed our meals meeting other guests.
Cons: Unfortunately, we had very heavy rain whilst there and the game drive was not very successful as most of the animals were too far away but our driver tried his best for us.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: From start to finish it was an amazing experience staying in the Outpost room. The food was delicious and we ate all 3 courses accompanied by fantastic Stellenbosch wine. Staff were also incredibly friendly
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The food was incredible and the views outstanding. Customer service was brilliant with everyone being incredibly welcoming and helpful. We stayed in The Outpost which was particularly fun - having an outside shower and a bath under the stars.
Cons: The only down point that I experienced was that the safari took us to a very touristy part of Addo elephant park and the car never deviated from tarmac roads. The guide was very knowledgeable but compared to other drives I have done at Addo through other operators, it was much less exciting and felt a bit pedestrian.

Pros: The view was very nice. The little houses have space between them so you feel you are very "alone in the wild". The mosquito net was good.
Cons: One of the owners talked to us about the costs of running the place when we checked in, we found that not very pleasant. Also, you have to read the small letters in the info book in the room because you pay extra for everything (eg. cleaning, firewood).
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in a bush cabin and we were loving it! Such a cool place and the hosts were really nice and helpful! The bush cabins are fully equipped and very clean!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the uniqueness of the cottage shaped like a dungbeetle! My husband decribed it as 'cute' before we arrived as the location was a surprise for me as part of our honeymoon. The hospitality of the managers gives a lovely extra touch to the tasty breakfast and pre-booked dinners. We will highly reccomend this place as there is nothing else like it! Thank you.
7,0 Good
Pros: The location was great and facilities fair. Restaurant excellent. Staff exceptional
Cons: The need for more shelving in the bush cabins, Stairs in cabin 2 need attention -step planks too narrow and a hand rail suggested at beginning of walkway - step down dangerous
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderfull time here. We stayed in the dung beetle and it was an unique experience. At the main building you had a really nice view and the breakfast was also really good. The accomodation was also close to addo national park.
Cons: Nothing

9,6 Excellent
Pros: The team is so lovely and special. It made our stay unforgettable!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: This place was a real treat. The setting and views were stunning and the accommodation is so comfortable and really feels in keeping with the area. Staff were incredibly friendly and the 2 safaris we booked with the hotel were brilliantly organised and set up. We were even able to have a later check out due to our flight being in the evening and hotel was happy to accommodate which was incredibly helpful and allowed us to enjoy the hotels facilities a bit longer. Only wish we could’ve stayed a 3rd night to get more out of it
Cons: The only small thing we weren’t big fans of was the very strict dinner times and specific tables we needed to sit at in the dining room.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful spot on top of a hill with a colonial feeling. Rooms big with comfy beds and a nice terrace. Be aware that you are off the beaten track. Staff is extremely polite and helpful!
Cons: They tried to persuade us too many times to book their activity. Dinner was average
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Such a beautiful & special location. Everyone was very friendly & helpful. A great experience!
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Incredible views, great room and facilities and very friendly staff.
Cons: Sad we couldn't stay longer than a night!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: What a great property! The location was superb, the accommodation outstanding, the food delightful and the staff were absolutely charming. Archie, the owner regularly visited with his two dogs really made us feel part of the Addo family. As a base to explore Addo Elephant Park we found by far the best way was to take the Lodges own sightseeing trucks and guide. Yes you can drive around the park in your own vehicle, but you certainly won’t see the number and variety of animals that Saul, our driver, was able to find for us.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful property with a taste. I really liked the rooms and the balcony, as well as terrace for breakfast. The staff are very welcoming and will do anything that your stay is amazing!
Cons: It is not specifically towards the property as everything was great. It’s more about how to get there which was crossing the slumps at some point and I didn’t particularly feel safe at that moment.
7,1 Good
Pros: The location-staff helpful Very calm and relax. Clean
Cons: We were 3 adults but the second room was very small. On the shower was not working properly so i had to use other one. We book dinner at the hotel but we were not given the choice of the time to come. It was 19:00 which for us was too early for us. The dinner was expedite very quickly. We did not had time to enjoy (we felt rush). A bit disappointed for 5*

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location, exceptional hospitality, amazing wildlife
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Gorah offerred us comfortable accomodation in high-end tents in the middle of the wilderness without a protective fence between us and animals on the way to the waterhole. An very competent and trust-inspiring staff member welcomed us and explained how Gorah "works" including the risks and how to handle them (Thanks, Travis!). We then went on an afternoon game drive with a highly knowledgeable and professional Ranger (Lesley!). This turned out to be our best game drive of our lives so far! Gorah is seamlessly embedded into Addo park. At 1600 square kilometers the park is big enough to not make you feel like in a zoo while being densely populated with an amazing range of wildlife to keep you in awe.
Cons: Accomodation is pricey but worth every cent in hindsight. My family urged me to stay several nights longer in the end... There's also a wonderful pool area that many visitors (including ourselves) don't seem to be aware of.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Unique situation inside the Parc, very luxurious accommodation, friendly staff, very helpful, recommended alternative road trip via the Karoo back to Cape Town, which was amazing.

Pros: I liked that you could help yourself to the cold breakfast and that there was also a hot breakfast included from the menu options. The food was very good. The property is very neatly kept and the staff are very warming. The pool area is lovely and I liked that they provide pool towels for you. The chocolates and biscuits in your room, is a nice personal touch. We travelled with a baby and they kindly put a little cot in our room.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent two night stay here to end our two week South African honeymoon! The staff were brilliant and checked in regularly to see if there was anything we needed, whether we’d be having dinner at the hotel, etc. There are lots of little rooms and spaces and multiple pools to hang around in. We chose to have dinner at the guest house on both nights and it was delicious - a set three course menu but the staff were super helpful and flexible if you wanted any changes. I would have happily stayed for longer!
7,0 Good
Pros: They packed us a breakfast to go early the next morning and had a local tribal show
Cons: Reception wasn’t open had to walk around looking for someone to check in
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful spacious cottage with comfortable beds and lovely shower room. Staff was welcoming and friendly and the dinner was great. We had to leave early to catch a flight and were given an unexpected small refund as we were unable to take breakfast before departing. A great place to stay if you are planning to visit addo park - we did a self drive on the way before staying here.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Superb, characterful site. Authentic, stylish, great food and tranquility. Will certainly stay there again.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This was a little oasis. The main areas were beautifully decorated with thought , history, comfort and practical elements too. The pool areas were perfectly framed with very comfortable loungers and pool towels. Although there was only a set menu for dinner the standard of the food was wonderful. It had all the benefits too of being very close to the Main Gate of Addo. It took us 8 minutes to drive! The staff were outstanding. The service was quick, personal and there was clearly a healthy relationship between everyone working on the property. Totally fabulous.
Cons: Nothing at all.
10,0 Excellent

Cons: Loved everything, even when I try to look for a fault I cant find one.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: It’s a amazing place! Beautiful rooms and clean. The breakfast and dinner was delicious! The staff is very lovely. Thank you for your hospitality!
Cons: It’s a little bit far and Waze got me lost, twice. I suggest to put more sinalizations board around the farm.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The enormous room has a nice atmosphere. It is very private with your own garden. Of course the kayaks was a nice extra. The breakfast is freshly prepared on order and very good.
Cons: The bathroom might need a little update. Nothing wrong with it, but it lacked the luxury of the rest of the room. Not really a fault of the property, but Google Maps is not sending you on the correct road. We ended up in a citrus orchard as well as our fellow guests. If you use Google Maps to navigate and you come from Kirkwood, make sure you keep on R336 until you see a sign towards Umlambo.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We are so happy that we have found this place. You have to get a little off road to get there but it is all worth it. A green oasis that is idyllically situated on the riverfront, ideally located near Addo Park. The cottages are luxuriously furnished and have a wonderful garden with jetty from which you can kayak. The restaurant deserves a separate mention in this review: Kayla is a very talented chef and truly an angel in the kitchen. Every night she serves an excellent and creative three-course menu that you do not want to miss. The family who runs the place and the other staff were very welcoming and put in extra efforts to make us feel comfortable. Great place!

Pros: The room was beautiful and clean and we were welcomed with champagne on ice which was lovely.

Pros: The stay was like a fairy tale! We arrived in the evening, there was no electricity because of a thunderstorm. The host Moses was waiting for us with candles and the barbeque. During dinner the electricity came back. In the next morning we saw animals from our terrace and also in the garden near the pool. Moses is a very friendly host, we liked the talks with him a lot. Breakfast and barbeque were very good! It's very quiet in the lodge, there are only 3 rooms. We never heard any other guests.
Cons: Everything was good! :-)
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Mozes is probably the best host we ever had, takes real good care of his guests. The estate was great located, very quit, with a lot of animals on the property even girafs! We also had a lovely dinner en breakfast.
8,5 Excellent
Pros: We got an upgrade to the honeymoon sweet wich we loved!
Cons: We did not see any wildlife by the lodge. Just bad luck I guess
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The housekeeper was great, good breakfast, great bbq. The location is more than beautiful, saw 3 of the big 5 from the balcony in 2days. Giraffes and other animals on site. Beautiful view of the stars at night, close to the Addo - luxury rooms with plenty space, clean.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It is located right down the road from the Main Addo Park entrance (on the north side of the Addo). The place got its own game farm with free roaming animals that is not found in the Addo park. My partner really wanted to see giraffes , and this place delivered on that promise as we could get real close to them here. The accommodation itself consists of one big wooden lodge with about 3 or 4 rooms and a shared kitchen, living room pool, deck area . The view from the deck over the Addo is just perfect. Our room had a great bed and bathroom. The shower is outside, which was a really great touch , watching over the bushveld while showering is another experience :). There is a bath inside , as it can be a bit chilly depending on the time of year to shower outside. One of the best parts were Moses who cooked our breakfasts and dinner to perfection. Of all the "braais" we had on our garden route trip, this was the best one, highly recommend booking this with Moses. He was the perfect host and always available and patient with us.
Cons: The property is between a small railway line and small road going along the northern side of the Addo , while it is overall very quiet and not a lot of cars on the road or very little rail activity, it was noticeable. The outside shower head can do with a little refreshing so it sprays more evenly , and the bath could maybe do with one of those shower handles attached to the tap for when it is too cold to shower outside.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Moses is an excellent host, the location is superb. You can do your own private safari. Please do use the braai he offers or ask him for other meals he prepares. Bed and bedlinnen superb
Cons: Be aware that the location is far from restaurants and shops. Thus you need to plan accordingly for

7,5 Good
Pros: Staff are friendly and made helpful recommendations. The email from the owner prior to the stay was particularly helpful.
Cons: Very basic facilities and the rooms are very dated. For what you pay it’s fine, but wouldn’t recommend to travellers used to hotel type facilities - we were fine as we have stayed in hostels travelling

Pros: Location (20 min from the main gate of the park), comfortable rooms, safe area, value for money, kids fiendly
Cons: Very disorganized/slow service for dinner, no lounge/bar area

Pros: Spaciousness
Cons: Nothing
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent in all regards . The staff were superb . A delightful place to stay
8,0 Excellent
Pros: They have a beautiful lawn and a playing area for the kids which our toddler liked. The proximity to Addo Elephant National Park is great. The staff was very welcoming. Really nice gesture that we got to stay a few hours longer because I didn't feel very fit at the time of check out. The lodge was lovely comfortable with a good working airco and warm shower. Better than you would expect in a lodge.
Cons: The restaurant didn't meet my expectations. One day I got lamb steak and it was served cold. That was really dissappointing. The breakfast is ok. The food in South Africa is great and I think if Chrislin's Lodge manage to reach that level and improving the WI-FI, it would turn into the perfect place to stay in this area.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely spacious room and terrace overlooking the beautiful gardens - someone has some seriously green fingers, the gardens are mature and beautifully planted. Super-comfortable bed and yummy bed linen. Unfortunately the weather was not good to us while we were there, so we didn't have the opportunity to use the pool, which was a shame, as it looked very inviting. Everyone was helpful, we loved the dogs and Rusty the cat (who is clearly omnipotent - she seemed to emerge in every chair at some point during the course of a day, and strolled in to check us out at breakfast time). The property is close to several restaurants and a short drive from Addo National Park. We only ate dinner in the restaurant once, but the food was absolutely delicious and extremely well presented - the restaurant staff were all lovely too. Great breakfast too - we're not big breakfast eaters, but the staff were happy to make us scrambled eggs and (unusually in my experience) unfazed when we said we really really did only want one egg and one rasher of bacon! Sadly, we had to cut our stay short, as we had to return to Port Elizabeth for an appointment, just as the weather was improving!
Cons: This is not a dislike, just a suggestion - a couple of big rugs in the restaurant might make the space a little more cosy and would also absorb some of the noise - we found that the combination of lots of glass doors, tiled floors, high ceilings, people, background music and general restaurant 'clattering' really bounced off all the hard surfaces and we slightly struggled to hear each other speak some of the time. Some rugs on the tiled floors would really help to absorb some of that. My only other comment, again not really a dislike, just something to be aware of, was that we had one of the rooms with an interconnecting door to the next room - the first night we had a baby neighbour, who was awake (and letting us all know - her parents for sure!) for quite a bit of the night, and the following night we had neighbours who were playing music or had the TV on (not sure which) quite loudly until quite late. Obviously we were slightly unfortunate in this respect and it's not something the hotel can really change, but if you are a light sleeper, it might be good to book one of the rooms which doesn't have this arrangement.

Pros: we were in the "chrislin lodge" for three days. our room was very large and we imagined it to be exactly the same. The personnel was very friendly and helpful. we booked a safari in the elephant park three times and would do it again and again. the breakfast could use a little more choice, there is either sausage / cheese or egg, not both. the homemade jam is delicious. the dinner is outstanding, just great! we would love to come back!

Pros: We have stayed in thousands of accomodations around the world and don't think we have ever met such friendly and helpful hosts. They even gave us a coolbox to take cold drinks in the safari park. Tented accommodation was outstanding. Meals on the evening superb. Firepit is a great touch. About 15 minutes drive to the main park entrance.

Cons: The bedroom was very hot, and the fan wasn’t sufficient
7,1 Good
Pros: Friendly and helpful hosts. Close to nature. Dinner area has a good ambiance.
Cons: Chalet is very basic. A fridge, fresh milk for tea/coffee, flat sheet for the bed, screen for the windows, working clock radio and kettle are recommended. The accommodation is reasonably value for money, however supper is expensive.
