Price was not what was expected. Got hassled into a specific coverage once arrived in Costa Rica. Paid for the extra rental coverage at checkout to avoid issues. Was told by rental company that the insurance I purchased was not proper coverage and was a waste of money. My price for rental was supposed to be 213$ probably some taxes and fees to be expected, but in order to walk out with a car I had to pay 666$. Not entirely a great way to start a trip.

This company is a scam. They didn’t even have the car. I had to have 4 wheel drive for the location I was staying. I paid for a 4 wheel drive. They didn’t have it. They had a beat up car. I couldn’t get my money back from them. They said there was nothing they could do. I should have read these reviews on this company before. I normally do and of course when I slacked, I had the worst experience with a rental company of my life. I paid for 2 weeks rental and never even took a car. Total scam!

Pros:

It was close to the airport.

Cons:

It was a complete scam. We were quoted a price and I even paid extra for an insurance plan. The van to the rental place was so hard to find at the airport. The guy gave us a tiny beat up car and said the only way we could take it was to pay for his car insurance. It was midnight and we had nowhere to go. He showed us a paper that he had written the different prices which seemed sketchy. We could pay like $590 and a $3000 deposit or like $500 and a $500 deposit. I told him I already purchased insurance and he said that doesn’t matter. We finally paid to get the heck out of there and the locks on the car didn’t work, the trunk was impossible to shut, the key clicker didn’t work, it was a piece of junk. We had to go up a hill on our drive on a regular road and the car gave out and couldn’t even make it up a hill. We were so happy to get rid of that car at the end of our trip. When we pulled up to drop it off no one was in the office and finally a guy came out in such a bad mood. Definitely never going back there.

Awful. They FORCE you to buy $300 insurance. It is not optional and it is not given back to you. They don’t tell you anywhere on the website. We didn’t find out until we showed up. We even bought insurance and the website ($65) and they said it ‘didn’t count’ and you need to purchase theirs. Awful experience. $80 turned into $380 for a rental car.

Wow. Tomas' customer service is unrivalled. What a genuinely kind, caring, and friendly man. He had picked us up from the airport holding up a sign with my name, and proceeded to drive us to the office in town. Along the way, he talked to us about all the fun places to explore, food recommendations, and some local history. When we got to the office, the car and contract were already waiting. Everything that was stated online was what the contract stated in person. The best part? No hidden fees! I opted to get the premium insurance, so for 12 days the car rental cost me $400 USD total. They also held a 300$ deposit which is completely standard practice. Tomas took the time to explain everything in detail, even going as far as providing us his personal number in case of any issues. When we went to inspect the car, he actually used a light to see any existing damage and spent the time explaining to us everything in the car. People like Tomas are seldomly found, where not only are they a good businessman, they are also genuinely a kind human. I would highly recommend easy way rent a car, especially if you want a painless rental experience!
