Residencial Porto Novo

The location was great - just near the center of Portu. Main transport facilities and tourist attractions was reachable by a short walk. Check in was fast and friendly, and the room cleaning was good.

We got room without windows to outside. There was only a window - vent opening to the hallway. Ventilation was poor. Every noise in the staircase and in the hallway was very well heard in the room. On the contrary, it seems that every noise from the room was also heard in the staircase. The room was narrow, bed to short, but the bed linen and towels clean but worn out.

The location is good for transportation and tourist attractions.

1. I booked a spacious room with window, views, and sofa chair, but they could only provided me with a dark small room without any window, only walls and a small chair. It's just a totally different room from the one on my booking confirmation. I admitted I did not find out it's the wrong room and tell them right away, I always trust hotels and do not think they will have this kind of mistakes. But when I later realised it was the wrong room and went to them, they just wanted me to accept it; they did not have other solutions and there was no sincere apology. Until next morning finally one of them said "sorry" to me. 2. Their English is not very good, it would be difficult to communicate with them if you don't speak Portuguese. 3. They asked you to leave the room key on the front desk when you are going out of the hotel and you needed to take it back again when you came back to the hotel, and they did not advise the rule when check-in. 4. The bathroom inside the room has no doors. 5. One of the two lights was flickering, which made the room darker. 6. The old TV has a big hole on it, looks like it would explode, and the remote control did not work. 7. I did see what other travelers already commented: dark unclean room and small bathroom. There's stain on the blanket on the bed and dust over all furnitures. Also the toilet is very close to the wash basin and the bath tub, you can touch everthing without a stretch. A huge water heater is above where you take a shower. 8. It's crazy that I needed to complain the wrong room they gave me and then kept complaining about the worse room I've got. 9. I know with a lower price you should not complain too much, but the point is that they provided the wrong room and were unwilling to solve the problem, for me it did not worth the money to stay in this hotel. I had expected to stay in a room with view but I ended up staying in a dark small confined room.

All night lady at the reception was snorkeling near to our room and at 8.00 a.m two ladies were talking very loud in the kitchen which was also very close our room. I’m not recommend this hotel.
