Hotel Real D Obidos

The hotel is within a building from the 14th century. Everything here is really old and very traditional and spreads medieval character. Staff is very helpful, the room is old but cosy. It‘s worth booking a room with Castle view! Breakfast is good.

If you like modern, functional hotels this is not the right place for you. It‘s a very old, traditional hotel. What I did not like is the fact that there is no restaurant at this hotel. You need to go and eat out. There is a small room service menu, with prices that could ne interpreted as a rip off. A fruit platter 9€, in a country where people earn 3€ per hour? I find this totally exaggerated. Óbidos is a special place, yes. But it is very touristic and not well kept. Very neglected walls and houses everywhere. There are much nicer places to be visited in Portugal.

The location

Had to wait for our room. Had to pay extra to use a pool towel at the hotel pool! Breakfast poor/ tables never cleaned. Not a clean table available, no attendant, nothing was replaced as it was used. It’s a stingy hotel and would not recommend it.
