Basic only continental but plenty of choice.
Whilst the room and the bathroom were very clean, we were overwhelmed by the number of dogs staying overnight with the other guests. Breakfast was only available after 8am; hence we had a cup of tea, and a bowl of cereal which the hotel owner gave us. Even though we chose the hotel for its location, we found it very noisy and slept with ear plugs.

The croissants were delicious and the bed was lovely. Near to the motorway so very handy as a stopover en route. Always try to stop here when we can.
It was great for us.
Very convenient location for stopover on the way to Scotland. Great history associated with the hall which was built on a grand scale. The breakfast room is very well decorated. Staff were friendly, both in evening and at breakfast. Rooms were cool and we could open the windows for good ventilation on a very hot night (outside).
On first arrival the hall seems a bit like a museum with many ornaments and diverse historical artefacts, especially on the main staircase. However, our room was smart and clean and had unusually high ceilings which made it feel very spacious.
Beautiful original country house hotel. Very comfortable. Nothing too much trouble. Host John friendly and informative. Would definitely recommend
