Basic breakfast ((who wants mashed apples?) Rooms are old, but beds are comfortable. Reception is very helpful and location is extremely good. Vicinity of many restaurants helps.
Could do with some renovation internally and externally.
Scary lift and ridiculously small rooms and no coffee or tea making facilities
Absolutely hideous place! Do not stay at this hotel just to save a bit of money. It really is not worth the stress and you will deeply regret it! Our first room had a private bathroom with a huge gap at the top of the wall, so whenever a person goes to the toilet for a number two, you WILL smell everything! Our first room was infested with bed bug, we woke up to find our bodies completely covered in bite marks, NOT FROM MOSQUITOES as the hotel would like you to believe! They have posters up saying you can ask reception for mosquitoes repellent but this is just a sly guise to cover up the fact that they have a bed bug issue. We complained and they insisted it was mosquitoes not bed bugs and gave us another room. Our new room also had a bathroom with a huge gap at the top of the adjoining wall to the bedroom, so again, you get all the unwanted smells from the toilet in your bedroom. This room had very old carpet (the other room had laminate floor, (an obvious attempt by the hotel to try and get rid of the bed bugs). We didn't think anything of it and the next morning (at 4am) we were both awake due to being bitten the entire night, we were covered from head to toe in painful, itchy bed bug bites. We immediately checked the bed and surroundings and found a dead bed bug and excrement from the incest's under the mattress. We went downstairs to complain and were told by a man at receptions that the manager would be in at 9am, so we retuned at 9am, extremely tired as we hardly had any sleep whatsoever! Again the hotel manager was not around and we were told he was on holiday. We informed the reception manager (Tristen) who is a nice girl but there was not much she or the previous man we spoke to could do. They both admitted there had indeed been issues of bed bugs in the past but believed they had gone away. We still had one nights stay remaining but we did not care, we had no choice but to leave. Our holiday was completely ruined. We checked into another hotel.
Bed Bugs. Do not stay here. Local people and other hotel owners in Lille told us that Hotel Maurice has a bad reputation when it comes to hygiene! It is widely known in the area and the manager refuses to do much to resolve the issue. Honestly when you look at the price of the hotel you may be tempted to stay here if you are on a budget but believe me for a little more money you can stay somewhere much, much better. Please do not stay here! They refuse to believe they have bed bugs even though we supplied them with pictures. They did not even do the moral thing and refund me for the two nights we stayed and had zero sleep!
Really comfy beds and nice people
Mosquitos! No AC meant we had the window open and it was also quite noisy
The location of the hotel is superb. The staff changed my room for the one with the window (I don't know why they have a room without a window in the first place, and without any worning on the page) when I asked for it.
The room was very, very dark, there was a little fresh air coming. The rooms could really use some renovation.
