Beautiful property in a quiet neighbourhood.
Spotlessly clean, fabulous staff, good location for Chania.
Bathrooms a bit out dated, but everything worked!
Everything was wonderful. Breakfast, staff, convenience, cleanliness it was all excellent.
Place a WC in the swimming pool area
Goof breakfast room maid is really the bests I commend Anita too she give us good advice
Lovely old building with fabulous interior décor in the public areas. Very spacious suite, super comfortable beds with top quality linen, fabulous view from communal terrace. Room we were shown on arrival was on ground floor with very little privacy and hardly any natural light but we were offered a first floor suite immediately. Fridge and kettle provided; complimentary wine, flowers and fruit. The breakfasts were served with a smile (became a bit tedious after a while as always the same offerings). Gardens very pretty but the pool wasn't cleaned until our penultimate day. We had a problem with the air conditioning which meant we had workmen in our room for a while but it was fixed and we were given a free late check out on departure day to compensate which was appreciated.
A good 25 minute walk to the harbour, fine during the day but not pleasant at night as hotel in a rundown area amongst several derelict buildings. Reception closed at 9pm and guests provided with keys to enter after this time so felt security was a little lacking. Room and bathroom were shabby; we are used to the standard of Greek hotels but, at almost €150 per night, the facilities were poor. No safety deposit box in the room; these were situated in the basement and had to be opened by the staff (which meant that after 9pm they were not available). There was a strange lack of atmosphere in the entire place, we almost felt as though we were intruding at times! Having to say the night before what time you would like breakfast is not ideal on holiday. We were always served breakfast promptly with everything we asked for but, with the kitchen being at a distance from the terrace, hot food always arrived cold. The coffee also was cold on occasions and, as the servers always left us, there was no easy way to rectify it. An intercom between the terrace and the kitchen would help. The pool area was pretty but poorly maintained; the pool wasn't really clean during our stay and was, to our surprise, shared with the villa next door! Not a problem really but it would've been nice to have been told. No toilets or drinks available at the pool area. There is no bar and no drinks available anywhere (apart from a limited supply in the minibar); a vending machine (maybe in the basement) would have been appreciated. We would have welcomed a little bit of info on arrival about the area, bus service, local restaurants, excursions available etc. (Maybe just an information booklet in the room?) In summary, not a comfortable stay and, in our opinion, very poor value for money.
