First of all, this is truly one of the cheapest private room you will find in Amed. The hosts are lovely and friendly. The breakfast is very very simple but tasty. The cleanliness of the room is top notch. The location is on the hill and the room is far away from the road, so you will definitely have peace and quiet. You will need to climb quite a few steps up a narrow stairwell. The sea breeze makes it way into the room and so there is great ventilation if you keep the doors open. There is hot water for the shower.
Although it is the cheapest room, they can do a lot better in terms of maintaining the room. What you are not told when you book is that it is a fan room, and you have to pay extra for AC. It gets really hot in the morning and afternoon as the sun rises directly in front of the room. In the night, if you leave the door opened slightly, you won't have any problems with ventilation. Since it's dry season, there wasn't many mozzies, but I reckon it'd be a bother during rainy season. The other thing you will not be told is that the view of the room is 80% blocked by the roof of the room infront. Which personally wasn't a big deal but for those looking for a seaview, you'll only get to see the blue ocean from the sides of the roof blocking you. As for the room itself, it is really old and outdated and needs some care. A fresh coat of paint, removing old termite nests, replacing/removing grit off the showerhead so you'll get a decent stream of water, repairing the sliders for the front doors so it does not bang around One of the easiest to take care of, is screwing the toilet properly into the floor. It moves and that's not great. It's not something anybody wants when they sit upon a toilet. The furniture in the room looks like it has seen better days, there is no lock on the cupboard doors and the backing of the cupboard is falling apart. The pillows are alright, but one smelled weird. Maybe an extra case will do the trick? The outdoor lounger could do with a new cover as well. Please put in a little bit more effort in maintaining your rooms, it can be a lot more pleasant instead of passing it off as just one of the cheapest room. I am sure taking care of these issues will help your business.
Good location. Clean and neat room with a fantastic view. No complaints about the room, good value
Quite unfortunate that the owner's wife attempted to scam us by telling us that the fastboat to Gili Islands was cancelled and proceeded to try to sell us a more expensive ticket in another town (which we were already aware is a common scam in Amed), to give the taxi driver who hangs out at the establishment a job. After we turned her offer down, she let the driver come up to our room, who continued to attempt to get our business. If that hadn't happened, I would've been quite happy with the place
Fantastic view from the superior room. Good location. Friendly staff
Air conditioning worked and food at the restaurant was excellent.
The bedding was dirty. One of the pillows was so mouldy that it looked dangerous. The snorkeling gear wasn’t worth hiring, they were mismatched, in poor condition and cost more than I expected they would.
Our stay was very nice, the staff was amazing and the room too. The food in the restaurant itself is great with fresh fish.
